Former Thurston County sheriff candidate Glenn Quantz, a detective with the Thurston County Sheriff's Department, is alleging harassment and retaliation within the workplace for running against his boss, Gary Edwards, last year.

In a tort claim submitted to the county last week, Quantz alleges that he suffered retaliation by members of the sheriff's office, which increased significantly when he announced his intention to run for sheriff last year.

In his claim, Quantz alleges a smear campaign was launched against him during the campaign, one that he says tarnished his reputation.

He said parts of his internal file were released to the media without his permission, and past events were fabricated or fed to the press.

Since the end of the campaign, Quantz was the subject of an internal investigation.

He claims he was passed over for reinstatement on the sheriff's SWAT team after having served on it for 13 years. H
